Washoe County’s 30 coaches earned an average salary of $240,345 in 2022, according to the U.S. Department of Education.

This is the highest average salary per county earned by coaches at Nevada post-secondary schools during 2022.

Washoe County is home to two post-secondary schools that paid coaches during 2022. Among them, University of Nevada-Reno stood out with the highest average coaching salary of $255,191.

Male coaches of men's teams received $384,961 on average in Washoe County, while female coaches in charge of women's teams earned an average of $104,772.

Research from the Vanderbilt Owen Graduate School of Management found NCAA coaches are compensated like CEOs, with top coaches earning more than $1.5 million annually.
